今回は、陣屋菓子司さんが製造・販売されている「さぬき名物献上栗」をご紹介します！
１つ1つ丁寧に手作りされた、贅沢な香川名物です。
This time, we’re introducing Kenjō-guri(chestnuts), a popular treat from Kagawa made by Jinya Kashitsukasa.
Each one is carefully handmade, making it a truly special local sweet!
「献上栗」とは？
「さぬき名物 献上栗」は、陣屋菓子司さんが製造・販売されている栗饅頭です。
「献上栗」という名前は、かつて江戸時代に高松藩松平家が栗林荘（現在の栗林公園）の栗を将軍に献上していたことに由来します。
残念ながら、観光地として賑わっている現在の栗林公園に、ほぼ栗の木はないそうですが……
将軍に献上していたくらいですから、きっと美味しい栗が収穫できていたのでしょうね。
そんな歴史を記念して作られた「献上栗」は、一粒丸ごとの栗を、香川県の特産品である「さぬき和三盆」を使った上品な白あんで包んだ、特別な栗まんじゅうです。
今でも、一つ一つ丁寧に手包みされているそうです。
優しい甘さで、緑茶やお抹茶はもちろん、紅茶やコーヒーにもよく合いますよ♪
賞味期限は？
「献上栗」の賞味期限は、製造日から28日間です。
直射日光と高温多湿を避けて、常温で保存できます。
賞味期限が長いので、安心してお土産として購入できますね！
個包装？何個入り？
「献上栗」は、伝統を感じる、品のあるパッケージで個包装されています。
公式サイトでは、6個入り、10個入り、20個入りの箱が案内されていますが、JR高松駅のお土産屋さんには透明なビニールに入った3個入りもありました。
（ただ、3個入りは人気なようで、筆者がお土産屋さんで購入した時にはラスト1個でした）
10個入りで税込2,800円（2025年現在）で、大人数に気軽にバラまける価格帯ではないかもしれませんが、大切な人とゆっくりおやつタイムを楽しむ時にオススメです。
どこで買えるの？
「献上栗」を製造・販売されている「御菓子司 陣屋」は高松市松福町にお店があります。
琴電松島2丁目駅から徒歩5分、JR高松駅から車で10分と、有名な観光地からは少し距離がある場所にあるので、観光ルートに組み込むのは少し難しいかもしれませんが……
「献上栗」の他にも、季節に合わせた愛らしい上生菓子など、魅力的なお菓子をたくさん販売されているので、ぜひチェックしてみてください！
また、栗林公園東門の横にある「かがわ物産館 栗林庵」さんでも、「献上栗」を購入することができます。

What is “Kenjo Guri”?
“Sanuki Specialty: Kenjo-guri” is a chestnut-filled sweet bun made and sold by Jinya Kashitsukasa.
The word “Kenjo” (meaning “offering to the shogun”) comes from the Edo period, when the Matsudaira clan of the Takamatsu Domain presented chestnuts from Ritsurin-so—now known as Ritsurin Garden—to the shogun.
Unfortunately, it’s said that there are hardly any chestnut trees left in today’s Ritsurin Garden, which is now a bustling tourist spot…
But since the chestnuts were once good enough to be offered to the shogun, they must have been truly delicious back then!
Ritsurin Garden is a Japanese garden that has been ranked the No.1 most popular tourist attraction among foreign visitors to Kagawa Prefecture for two consecutive years.
To commemorate that bit of history, “Kenjo-guri” was created — a special chestnut bun featuring a whole chestnut wrapped in smooth white bean paste made with Sanuki Wasanbon, a fine traditional sugar from Kagawa.
Even today, each piece is carefully hand-wrapped one by one.
Its gentle sweetness pairs perfectly not only with green tea or matcha, but also with black tea and coffee!
Best-by date
The shelf life of “Kenjo Guri” is approximately 28days from the manufacture date.
Please store at room temperature, avoiding high heat and direct sunlight.
How many are in a pack?
“Kenjō Guri” comes in elegant, individually wrapped packaging that reflects a sense of tradition.
On the official website, you can find boxes of 6, 10, or 20 pieces, but at a souvenir shop inside JR Takamatsu Station, there were also 3-piece packs in clear plastic bags.
(However, the 3-piece packs seem to be quite popular — when the author visited, there was only one left on the shelf!)
A 10-piece box costs 2,800 yen including tax (as of 2025). It may not be the kind of souvenir you casually hand out to a large group, but it’s perfect for sharing a relaxing snack time with someone special.
Where to Buy
“Jinya,” the confectionery shop that makes and sells Kenjōguri, is located in Matsufuku-cho, Takamatsu City.
It’s about a 5-minute walk from Kotoden Matsushima 2-chome Station, or a 10-minute drive from JR Takamatsu Station.
It’s a bit off the main sightseeing route, so it might be tricky to stop by—but if you can, it’s totally worth the visit!
Besides Kenjōguri, they also sell lots of beautiful seasonal wagashi (Japanese sweets) that look almost too cute to eat.
You can also find Kenjōguri at Kagawa Bussankan Ritsurin-an, located right next to the East Gate of Ritsurin Garden.
They’ve got tons of local goodies there—everything from sweets and sake to stylish crafts—so if you visit Ritsurin-an, you’ll basically have all the best Kagawa souvenirs in one stop.

If you’re heading to Ritsurin Garden, make sure to visit Kikugetsutei, the teahouse inside the garden.
You can enjoy Kenjōguri with a cup of matcha while soaking in the peaceful, beautiful scenery—it’s such a relaxing experience.
And for those who like to buy souvenirs at the very end of their trip, Kenjōguri is also available at Harenohiya, a souvenir shop inside Takamatsu Orne, the building directly connected to JR Takamatsu Station.
Super convenient for last-minute shopping before you hop on the train!
Tourist Information
Kagawa Prefecture is famous for its udon noodles, and some tourists even visit several udon shops in a single day to compare their flavors.
