今回は、讃岐名物「瓦せんべい」をご紹介します！
香川の推しポケモン「ヤドン」とのコラボ商品を発見しましたよ♪
This time, I’d like to introduce Kawara Senbei, a local specialty from Kagawa!
There’s even a collaboration version featuring Yadon, Kagawa’s favorite Pokémon.
「瓦せんべい」とは？
「瓦せんべい」は、「宗家くつわ堂」さんが製造・販売されている香川県のお土産です。
「瓦せんべい」の誕生は、なんと明治10年。
玉藻城（高松城）の瓦を模して、作られ始めたそうです。
砂糖と小麦粉、卵、ごまが原材料のシンプルなおせんべいで、お砂糖は香川の名産品である最高級の「白下糖」が使われているそうです。
この素材のシンプルさ、こだわりが、約150年愛され続けている理由かもしれませんね。
宗家くつわ堂さんの「瓦せんべい」は堅焼きされているので、他の地方にお住まいの方がイメージされる瓦せんべいと比べると、かなり硬めだと思います。
小さなお子様や、歯に自信のないお年寄りの方へのお土産には、ちょっと向かないかもしれません……
ただ、堅焼きならではの香ばしさがやみつきになること間違いなしなので、香川に来られた際には是非購入していただきたい一品です♪
全国菓子大博覧会では、最高の賞である「名誉総裁賞」も受賞されていますよ！
おせんべいに施されている焼印には、昔ながらのデザインのほか、香川の推しポケモンである「ヤドン」柄、「ハローキティ」柄、「おめでとうございます」や「ありがとうございます」などのメッセージ入りのもの、干支などの限定の柄もあるようなので、是非チェックしてみてください！

賞味期限は？
「瓦せんべい」の賞味期限は、製造後90日間です。
約3ヶ月お日持ちするので、お土産に最適ですね！
個包装？何個入り？
「瓦せんべい」は1つ1つ個包装されているので、職場で配ったり、お裾分けしたりするのに便利です。
おせんべいの大きさにもバリエーションがあり、食べやすい小サイズ、定番の中サイズ、欲張りさん向けの大サイズ、イベントなどでウケが良さそうな特々大サイズの4種類があるそうです。
特々大サイズ以外は、それぞれの用途に合わせた枚数のセットを選ぶことができますよ！
ヤドンやハローキティの焼印が入った特別なセットは、定番の中サイズが5枚入ったセットで販売されていました。

どこで買えるの？
「宗家くつわ堂」さんは高松市内に直営店を2店舗展開されています。
そのうち「総店舗」は、高松中心部にある「兵庫町商店街」というの商店街の中にありますので、観光の途中に立ち寄るのに便利です♪
その他、JR高松駅を始めとする主要駅、高松空港、高速道路のSA、道の駅、スーパーなど、香川県内でお土産を売っているお店ならば大体どこでもお取り扱いがありますので、見つけるのは比較的簡単だと思います。
また、大都市の百貨店でも取り扱いがあるようです。

香川県の綾川町には、ヤドンをモチーフにした遊具が人気の「ヤドン公園」があります。
ポケモンファンの方にはたまらないスポットですので、ぜひ訪れてみてくださいね！
駐車場は18台分ありますが、人気のため、土日は待たないと停められない可能性があります。
最寄駅（ことでん綾川駅）から徒歩5分ですので、電車の利用を推奨されているようです。
What is “Kawara-sembei”?
“Kawara Sembei” is a traditional souvenir from Kagawa Prefecture, produced and sold by Souke Kutsuwado.
The origin of Kawara Sembei dates all the way back to 1877 (Meiji 10).
It’s said to have been created as a confection modeled after the roof tiles of Tamamo Castle (Takamatsu Castle).
Made simply from sugar, flour, eggs, and sesame seeds, this sembei uses Kagawa’s locally produced, premium sugar called “Shiroshitato.”
This simplicity — and dedication to ingredients — may be why it has been loved for nearly 150 years.
Souke Kutsuwado’s Kawara Sembei is baked hard, so compared to similar sembei from other regions, you may find it considerably firmer.
Because of its hardness, it might not be the best choice as a gift for small children or elderly people who are not confident in their teeth.
However, its uniquely roasted flavor—made possible by the firm baking—can be seriously addictive.
If you visit Kagawa, this is definitely a treat worth buying!
It has even received the Honorary President Award, the highest prize at the National Confectionery Exposition.
The branding on each sembei varies widely: from traditional designs to Yadon (Slowpoke), Kagawa’s promotional Pokémon, Hello Kitty, celebratory messages like “Congratulations” or “Thank you,” and even limited-edition zodiac designs.

Best-by date
The shelf life of “Kawara Sembei” is about 90 days from the date of production.
Since they keep for about three months, they’re perfect as a souvenir!
How many are inside?
Each “kawara senbei” comes individually wrapped, making them convenient for sharing at the office or giving as small gifts.
They also come in a variety of sizes: an easy-to-eat small size, the classic medium size, a large size for those who want a bit more, and an extra-extra-large size that’s sure to be a hit at events.
Except for the extra-extra-large size, you can choose from different set quantities depending on your needs.
Special sets featuring branded designs—such as Yadon (Slowpoke) or Hello Kitty—are available as sets of five medium-sized senbei.
Where to Buy
Sōke Kutsuwadō operates two directly managed stores in Takamatsu City.
One of them, the Main Store, is located inside Hyōgoguchi Shopping Street in the central area of Takamatsu, making it a convenient place to stop by while sightseeing.
In addition, their products are widely available throughout Kagawa Prefecture—at major train stations including JR Takamatsu Station, Takamatsu Airport, highway service areas, roadside stations, supermarkets, and most shops that sell local souvenirs. You should have little trouble finding them.
It seems that some major department stores in large cities also carry their products.

Tourist Information
In Ayagawa Town, Kagawa Prefecture, you’ll find a park themed around the Pokémon Slowpoke.
Pokémon fans should definitely pay it a visit!
It’s also very easy to get to, located just a 5-minute walk from the nearest station, Kotoden Ayagawa Station.
